Shareef Kutty (WINNER)Shareef  Kutty chased a maniacal ST bus driver who was on a killing spree in Pune. He overtook the bus on four occasions and shouted at the driver to stop but to no effect. Shareef Kutty,emerged a true hero behind the dramatic capture, after he climbed into the driver's cabin and pulled the driver out.  Kutty was riding his bike to Poona College around 8 am, when a bus grazed his vehicle. In the next twenty minutes, the same bus went on a rampage crushing vehicles, people and anything that came in its path. Kutty trailed the bus and waited for an opportunity to close in on it. When the opportunity arose, he abandoned his bike and jumped on the bus, holding on to the bars near the door of the driver's cabin. He then climbed into the bus and overpowered the driver.

Lajja Sharma(RUNNER UP)Lajja Sharma was travelling from Mumbai to Jammu by the Jammu Tavi Express. On that day as the train passed Borivali station a man entered the ladies compartment claiming to be a cop, after some time he started shutting down all the windows and doors by saying that some miscreants are throwing stones at the train. Then he started threatening the women in the compartment with a knife and started taking their money and ornaments. He even attacked other women in the compartment. However, Lajja Sharma physically fought the robber, who bit her cheek off. Then Lajja, alighted the slowing train and boarded another compartment. Thereafter she raised an alarm and got more people into the compartment saving everyone.

Praful Shinde(RUNNER UP)Praful saved a girl from being raped in Aarey Colony, Goregaon East. One evening when Praful was returning from work there was a man who was trying to molest and rape a girl. Praful heard some girl cries behind the bushes and followed the same, he found a drunk man who was trying to rape a girl. He immediately overpowered the man and handed him over to the Police.

Physical Below 15 Years

Yashasvi Tiwari (WINNER) In 2012, ten year old Yashasvi and her family were involved in a road accident. Her uncle passed away in the accident, and the driver, her mother and her brother were unconscious. An injured yet quick and alert Yashasvi managed to get help from some other vehicles, managed to call for an ambulance and had her family members shifted to a hospital in time thereby saving all their lives.

Mrunal Balpande (RUNNER UP)Mrunal saved a three year old girl from drowning even though she did not know how to swim. She jumped into the water body and helped the girl while shouting for help the entire time.

Social Bravery Above 15

Shafiqur Rehman Khan (WINNER) Shafiqur founded the organization EMPOWER PEOPLE which was started with a 300 kilometer March Against Female Infanticide and gender inequality in Haryana.  EMPOWER PEOPLE works with victims and potential victims of human trafficking and honour crimes against women. The organization is gradually taking the form and shape of a social movement, with a few community based organizations in seven states of India.

  Ashif Shaikh (RUNNER UP) Ashif runs an organization that is working for the betterment of manual scavengers (95% of whom are women). Ashif started Jan Sahas and Rashtriya Garima Abhiyan when he was in his early twenties.  Under his leadership, over the last decade the organization has been strategic, effective and brilliant in its efforts to free over 11,000 women from the degrading caste based slavery of manual scavenging. Their unswerving commitment is directed to creating a discrimination free society in 4000 villages of the state of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

Satyaraj Giramani & Hitesh Vaghela (RUNNER UP) Satyaraj and Hitesh together saved a child Madhavan who was a victim of child trafficking and had been brought to Ahmedabad for wrong purposes. The boy somehow got away from the hands of the people who kidnapped him from Tamil Nadu. The duos efforts exposed the child trafficking racket in Ahmedabad and the case is now being handled by the crime branch. Satyaraj and his family did beyond the thinking by saving the child, make him stay with them like a family member, searching for his parents in Tamil Nadu. Finally the boy was reunited with his family.

Social Bravery Below 15

Krish Shah (WINNER) Krish performed an exemplary act of selfless bravery. When he witnessed a robbery, he bravely chased and caught a thief who had stolen two gold chains from a 94 year old & handed over the thief to the police.

 

Honorary (Posthumous)

Shahid Javed(Winner) Javed Saved around 30 to 35 people in fire accident in Merut 10 April 2006. However unfortunately while saving others lives, he was burnt 92 percent & lost his life.

Nirbhaya(Winner) Nirbhaya's courage and her 13 day long battle with death, inspired the entire nation to take to the streets and voice their anger on the issue of crime and atrocities against women.

Reshma Ragrez(Winner) Reshma tipped off the police about her husband Shahzad, who had been making crude bombs. By doing so she put the nation's interests ahead of her own interests. After his arrest her husband led the cops to ten more crude bombs. If not for her timely action the events could have turned disastorous.
